We work in partnership with you.
The program caters to children ages 5-15, who are then organized into 2 groups. Our members live in and around Hartford, Connecticut. Our volunteers running the program, Andrea Williams, Lynette Joiner, and Joyce Williams, all love children. The Program is funded by donations from parents and community members.
Our program is designed to help our children develop intellectual and interpersonal skills. The students will learn how to conduct themselves in group settings and to be respectful to their peers and the adults around them. The students will gain knowledge in current events and understand topics in the news that may affect them.
Best of all the children will learn how to be themselves. By accepting and embracing everything about their 'Self' our members will learn that life is an adventure. and for them to fully enjoy this adventure all that is needed is to become strong individuals. They will have to take the opportunity and explore all the possibilities their world have to offer!
We aspire to have the students become happy, healthy, successful men and women!
The members will gain the skills and confidence to:
~Become lifetime learners
~Develop healthy self esteem
~Make new friends
~Learn to communicate with others with confidence
~Learn to work independently and within a group
~Develop research and analysis skills
~Become outstanding citizens in their community
~Become open minded, assertive, and learn how to think independently
~Develop confidence inf public speaking abilities and reading a loud
~Be able to advocate for themselves.
1. Meetings are held every other Friday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. top
The first half of the meeting is dedicated to introducing members, welcoming new members, reviewing any concerns from prior meetings and discussing current topic.
The second half is dedicated to encouragements, optional spiritual encouragement, spotlight, and achievement recognition. We wrap up with a snack and a quick overview of future topics.
Training is available for all volunteers willing to assist with the program.
2. There is no cost for the program. Parents have the opportunity to enroll their children into a free program that provides them with an opportunity to socialize and learn in a fun filled atmosphere.
Parents normally rotate and donate snacks and juice for snack time
A $10 voluntary monthly donation is suggested.
3. The program will run throughout the regular school year. The program may be available in the summer (more information to follow).
4. We normally take field trips to specialty museums and other place of interest based on members request. (the cost normally includes lunch)
5. Each member will receive a folder that will contain all their work, research, findings and projects; this folder will be given to the parents at the end of each year.
The children will work on special projects; these projects may require parent involvement and research.
